U2opia in association with Facebook India has come up with a great innovation that will help all the users across the country now to access Facebook anywhere, anytime without the need of GPRS or any internet service. Facebook India announced that any Mobile user in India can now access their Facebook accounts with the help of an app called Fonetwish. When they tell Any Mobile User, they mean it. Ya! Now Facebook can be accessed with any basic cellphone model, may it be the Nokia 1100 or any other low range cost phone.
This application has been developed using the USSD technology. USSD is a protocol that GSM telephones use to communicate with the service providers. In simple words, the balance inquiry system would be the best example to explain this.
To Enable Facebook Fonetwish, all you need to do is to Dial *325# [In case you are using a QWERTY phone, then dial *fbk#] and then you will see a Welcome message followed by another message asking you to enter your Facebook username and password.
On getting the Above Screen, You can update your status message by replying with option 2. You will see the Whats on your mind? message, for which you can reply with the message you want to set as your status. You can see that your profile message has been updated.
- This service is charged at Re 1/- per day while updating status is free.
- There are no roaming charges as well and this service is available only in India.
- This service is available in almost all leading Service providers like Tata Docomo, Idea, Aircel, Airtel, Loop Mobile and Videocon. It is not available in Vodafone.
- One disadvantage with this is that it has a limit of 140 characters.
- You can deactivate this service by dialing *325*22#.
- There are no other limitations. This service can be be used on all the mobile irrespective of whether it is a smartphone or any other low cost model.
